Lost In The Wild: Portland Mens Search For Sasquatch Takes A DEADLY Turn

Written by Published

In a tragic turn of events during the festive week of Christmas, two men from Portland lost their lives in a quest for the elusive Sasquatch, as confirmed by local authorities.

As reported by Fox News, the Skamania County Communications Center received an alarming call from a family member in the early hours of Christmas Day. The two men, who had embarked on a Sasquatch hunt, were reported missing after failing to return home on December 24th as planned. The Skamania County Sheriffs Office (SCSO) was able to pinpoint the location of the men's vehicle off Oklahoma Road, near Willard, Washington, using a license plate reader, colloquially known as a "flock camera."

The subsequent search operation was extensive, spanning three days and involving over 60 volunteers, search and rescue teams, drones, canines, and a U.S. Coast Guard air asset. The SCSO stated, "After a grueling, three-day search over difficult terrain and harsh weather conditions, the 59-year-old male and 37-year-old-male, both from Portland, Oregon, who were reported missing/endangered were located, deceased, in a heavily wooded area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest."

The cause of death for both men appears to be exposure, a conclusion drawn from the harsh weather conditions and their apparent lack of preparedness. The SCSO expressed gratitude to the volunteers who braved "freezing temperatures, snow, high water levels, heavy rain, downfall, and heavily wooded terrain" during the Christmas week to locate the men.

In a heartfelt message, the SCSO extended "our deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the loved ones lost in this tragic incident." The identities of the men have not been disclosed.

Interestingly, a 2019 Travel Channel blog post identified Washington as the "world's most active region" for Sasquatch sightings, with the Blue Mountains and Okanogan County being particularly notable. The latter was described as "the locale of one of the most aggressive Bigfoot encounters ever recorded."
