In a recent development, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has successfully thwarted the Biden administration's plans to dispose of materials intended for the border wall, pending the return of President-elect Donald Trump to office.
This news was made public through a press release issued by Paxton's office last Friday.
As reported by Gateway Pundit, Paxton revealed that segments of the border wall had already been sold off at a fraction of their original cost, a situation he described as "pennies on the dollar." The press release further detailed, "The Biden Administration confirmed to the court today that it will agree to an order preventing the outgoing administration from disposing of any further border wall materials over the next 30 daysallowing President Trump to use those materials as he sees fit."
This agreement will be enforced as a court order, ensuring its observance and making any violations punishable. The court also affirmed Texas' right to evidence proving the Biden administration's compliance with an injunction secured by Attorney General Paxton in May 2024. This injunction mandated the Biden administration to allocate statutorily obligated funds towards the construction of the border wall, following an illegal attempt by the federal government to redirect these funds.
The press release further stated, "If it is shown that the Biden Administration disposed of border wall materials purchased with funds subject to that injunction in violation of a court orderor that the Department of Justice made misrepresentations regarding the border materials that have been auctioned offthis would constitute unethical and sanctionable conduct, and the responsible parties could be held in contempt of court.
Paxton expressed satisfaction at the outcome, stating, "We have successfully blocked the Biden Administration from disposing of any further border wall materials before President Trump takes office." He further emphasized the significance of this development, linking it to the broader victory of compelling the Biden administration to build the wall. Paxton pledged to hold the Biden administration accountable for any illegal actions undermining the nation's border security, particularly those motivated by a desire to obstruct President-elect Trump's immigration agenda.
Earlier this month, President-elect Trump addressed the issue of the border wall materials' sale during a press conference. He appealed to Biden, saying, "Im asking today, Joe Biden, to please stop selling the wall." The Texas Tribune reported that some sections of the wall had starting bids as low as $5, highlighting the urgency of Paxton's intervention.
