In a recent discussion on MSNBC, political analyst Matthew Dowd expressed his belief that President Joe Biden is strategically utilizing his remaining time in office to limit the potential "damage" President-elect Donald Trump could inflict on the nation.

Dowd's comments came as he was invited to share his insights on Biden's final weeks in the White House by guest host Richard Lui.

As reported by Mediaite, Lui initiated the conversation by highlighting the flurry of activity in the White House, including Biden's decision to commute the death sentences of 37 out of 40 federal death row inmates. He also noted the President's ongoing efforts to sign bills into law and appoint federal judges. "We're talking of the commutations that came at the end of last week, but we had many bills signed by the president," Lui said.

When asked about his expectations for Biden's actions in the coming weeks, Dowd responded, "I mean, I think hes what hes trying to do is trying to corner Donald Trump and sort of box him in so he can do I think the Biden administration and the president is trying to prevent Donald Trump from doing as much damage as he possibly can could do. Which he could do a lot after becoming president. But I think Joe Biden is trying to box him in on this."

Dowd also stood by Biden's decision to commute the death sentences, asserting that "Donald Trump doesnt understand the difference between a commutation and a pardon."

Trump, in response to Biden's commutations, expressed his fury in a lengthy Christmas Day post on Truth Social. He wrote, "Also, to the 37 most violent criminals, who killed, raped, and plundered like virtually no one before them, but were just given, incredibly, a pardon by Sleepy Joe Biden. I refuse to wish a Merry Christmas to those lucky souls but, instead, will say, GO TO HELL! We had the Greatest Election in the History of our Country, a bright light is now shining over the U.S.A. and, in 26 days, we will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. MERRY CHRISTMAS!"

As Biden's tenure draws to a close, the nation watches with bated breath, anticipating the potential impact of his final actions in office and the impending transition of power to President-elect Trump.
