In a horrifying incident that occurred just days before Christmas, an illegal Guatemalan immigrant, Sebastian Zapeta, allegedly set a woman ablaze in a New York City subway car.
The woman, who was reportedly sleeping at the time of the attack, succumbed to her catastrophic injuries.
According to Gateway Pundit, the incident took place on a stationary F train at Brooklyns Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway station. Zapeta, who had been deported by the Trump Administration in June 2018, managed to re-enter the US illegally at an undisclosed time and location. He was able to move freely within the country, a situation critics attribute to the policies of the Biden administration.
The heinous crime has sparked outrage among several political figures. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has called for a swift trial, conviction, and execution of Zapeta. "Death penalty, don't waste money on a lengthy trial. Convict him and finish him. What he did is so incredibly evil," Greene wrote. She also expressed her disbelief at the apparent lack of intervention from bystanders, stating, "And how it seems like no one tried to save her is beyond me. Maybe they did but it doesnt seem like it."
Greene's sentiments were echoed by other conservative lawmakers. Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) succinctly tweeted, "Death penalty," while Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) pointed out the incident as evidence of the failure of Democrat's soft-on-crime policies. "A woman was intentionally lit on fire on the subway today. Democrat's soft-on-crime policies do not work," Biggs stated.
Biggs also highlighted the irony of New York Governor Kathy Hochul's recent posts boasting about the safety of New York's subway, in light of this tragic incident. The shocking crime underscores the need for a reassessment of current immigration and crime policies, as well as the importance of ensuring public safety.
