Anthony Scaramucci, a figure known for his brief 10-day tenure as White House communications director under President Donald Trump, has reemerged in the public eye.
This time, he's offering unsolicited advice to tech mogul Elon Musk, cautioning him about the perils of political involvement.
According to Gateway Pundit, Scaramucci's recent appearance on CNN's The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer saw him issuing a veiled warning to Musk. He cautioned the SpaceX founder about the dangers of "Potomac fever," a term used to describe the intoxicating allure of political power and influence in Washington.
Scaramucci's remarks were tinged with a sense of condescension, warning Musk that Washington possesses an "immunological system" adept at neutralizing those who threaten to disrupt the established order. He subtly suggested that Musk should "lay off the gas on politics" to avoid becoming a target of the political establishment.
Scaramucci was quoted as saying, Well, listen, hes got a very powerful role. Hes got a $44 billion megaphone. Hes got over 200-plus million followers. And, Wolf, he was instrumental in that election. The stuff that Elon Musk did in Pennsylvania alone, I think, helped the President win that election. So he has a very big voice."
He continued, "I think the problem for Elon Musk, though, is hes got a little bit of Potomac fever. And so you think youre going to go to Washington and change Washingtonthats Potomac fever. And the weird thing about Potomac fever is one of the symptoms is you dont know you have Potomac fever."
Scaramucci, speaking from personal experience, added, "And, of course, I have had Potomac fever, Wolf. So Im speaking as a former patient thats been afflicted with the disease."
He concluded his warning to Musk by saying, "So hes just got to be very, very careful because hes making enemies that he doesnt realize. And the incentives in Washington are totally different than those in business. Everybodys incentivized in a different and sometimes irrational way. And I think the power that hes wielding right nowWashington has a great immunological systemand I think theyll find a way to rebut him. I would say to Elon Muskhe wouldnt listen to mebut stick to business. Youve done great. Youve made a couple of hundred billion dollars since the election. Lay off the gas on politics a little bit because these people could hurt you, and theres no need for you to get hurt.
The question remains whether Musk will heed Scaramucci's advice or continue to navigate the treacherous waters of Washington politics. His actions in the coming months will undoubtedly reveal his chosen path.
