Elon Musk, the renowned business magnate, recently expressed his dissatisfaction with mainstream media, particularly in the wake of President-elect Donald Trump's victory on November 5.

Musk's comments were directed at the perceived failure of legacy media in serving the American public, and he emphasized the importance of independent news gatherers during Trump's presidency.

According to The Post Millennial, Musk highlighted the increasing significance of citizen journalists in a post on X. "You are the media now. The reality of this election was plain to see on X, while most legacy media lied relentlessly to the public," Musk wrote. He encouraged individuals to share their thoughts and observations on X, correct inaccuracies, and create a space dedicated to truth.

However, Brian Stelter, a CNN contributor, expressed skepticism about Musk's assertions. He criticized Musk for relying on anonymous accounts and websites that lack research, backing, or institutional knowledge. "These users on X are trying to present themselves as the new CNN, the new New York Times," Stelter told CNN host Dana Bash.

Stelter acknowledged the excitement surrounding Musk's platform but warned that it could mislead many people. He also questioned Musk's understanding of lawmaking and his influence on media coverage. Stelter dismissed the notion that legacy media were attempting to create discord between Musk and Trump. Instead, he suggested that journalists were merely trying to comprehend the relationship between the two, which he deemed crucial for the next four years.

Dana Bash echoed Stelter's sentiments, stating, "We're literally calling it as we see it. Elon Musk put out on social media that he didn't like the [spending package] bill. Then there was a statement from Donald Trump and JD Vance, and then everything fell apart."

However, not all CNN hosts share Stelter's faith in the future of mainstream media. Van Jones recently expressed his belief that Democrats and traditional politicians fail to grasp the power and influence of social media, leading to their disregard by millions of Americans. This divergence in viewpoints within CNN itself underscores the ongoing debate about the role and credibility of both mainstream and citizen journalism in today's rapidly evolving media landscape.
