NewsNation has confirmed the continuation of its professional relationship with anchor Chris Cuomo, securing a multiyear contract that will see Cuomo persist as the host of an 8 p.m. EST weeknight show.
The cable news channel, a subsidiary of Nexstar Media Group, expressed its satisfaction with Cuomo's performance and contribution to the network's growth.
According to The Hill, Sean Compton, president of Nexstars Networks Division, praised Cuomo's unique talent and his role in bolstering NewsNation's brand. Compton stated, Chris is a one-of-a-kind talent whose unrivaled analysis and commentary has helped grow the audience at NewsNation and strengthen our brand. He further emphasized Cuomo's commitment to NewsNations mission of delivering News for All Americans, expressing delight that Cuomo will remain a cornerstone of the networks primetime lineup.
Cuomo, expressing his enthusiasm for the renewed contract, said, Of course I am staying. Where else but NewsNation can you expose the game instead of being forced to play? Lets get after it! His statement reflects his dedication to the network and his commitment to providing insightful analysis to the American public.
Cuomo, a former anchor for CNN and ABC News, joined NewsNation in 2022. His contributions to the network have been diverse, including hosting an eponymous weeknight show and leading a range of town halls and special programs. These programs have covered a wide array of topics, from trade and jobs to antisemitism and crime in America, and even the Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
In the days leading up to the recent presidential election, Cuomo hosted a NewsNation town hall with Vice President-elect Vance, further demonstrating his active role in the network's programming. NewsNation, launched by Nexstar Media Group in 2021, has consistently expanded its programming lineup and talent roster, with Cuomo being a significant part of this growth.
