In the 2024 election, McDonald's patrons were evenly divided in their support for Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, a poll reveals.
This intriguing development followed a controversy during the campaign, where Harris claimed to have once been an employee at a Californian McDonald's. Trump, in response, visited a McDonald's in Pennsylvania, where he personally handed out takeout bags to drive-thru customers.
As reported by Daily Mail, a survey conducted by J.L. Partners for DailyMail.com discovered that both political contenders received the backing of 42 percent of McDonald's customers. The poll further revealed that Trump was the clear favorite among fans of Pizza Hut, Jimmy John's, and Chick-fil-A, leading by 15, 19, and 13 points respectively. Harris, on the other hand, managed to secure a three-point lead among Domino's pizza enthusiasts.
The poll also delved into the political preferences of social media users. Regular users of X social media platform were overwhelmingly in favor of Trump, with 55 percent supporting him compared to 36 percent for Harris. Trump also held significant leads among Twitch and Snapchat users, and maintained narrower leads among regular users of Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. Harris managed to secure a slight edge among Instagram users, indicating a failure of her campaign's attempt to leverage influencers to boost support on social media platforms.
The survey also analyzed voters' grocery shopping habits, revealing a sweeping victory for Trump. This could potentially reflect voter dissatisfaction with the soaring food prices under Joe Biden's administration. Trump secured a 5-point lead among shoppers at Whole Foods, renowned for its organic produce, and a 12-point lead among Dollar General customers. He also won over Walmart and Costco grocery shoppers by 8 and 5 points respectively. Harris, however, was more favored among Aldi shoppers and those at Price Rite, leading by 7 and 3 points respectively.
The poll further explored the political leanings of smokers, vapers, vegetarians, and gym-goers. Among smokers of cigarettes and cigars, Trump held a 4-point lead over Harris. Vapers showed even stronger support for Trump, with 49 percent backing him compared to 35 percent for Harris. Vegetarians leaned slightly towards Harris, while meat eaters favored Trump. Among gym-goers, those who primarily do cardio exercises were almost evenly split between the two candidates, while those who focus on weightlifting showed a clear preference for Trump.
The survey also highlighted the political preferences of voters based on their sexual orientation. Harris won the support of 63 percent of gay voters, while Trump secured 24 percent. Among bisexual voters, 43 percent supported Harris and 27 percent Trump. The race was tighter among heterosexual voters, with 45 percent supporting Trump and 39 percent Harris. These results provide a fascinating insight into the diverse political preferences of American voters, reflecting the complex interplay of personal habits, lifestyle choices, and political leanings.
