According to Mediaite, Rock's seven-minute opening monologue took aim at a variety of public figures, including President-elect Donald Trump, President Joe Biden, tech mogul Elon Musk, and the controversial Luigi Mangione. Rock humorously commented on the public's fascination with Mangione's appearance, stating, Everybodys fixated on how good looking this guy looks. If he looked like Jonah Hill, no one would care. Theyd have already given him the chair.
Rock's critique extended to Donald Trump's successful year, which included surviving an assassination attempt, winning the presidency again by popular vote, and being named Time Man of the Year. Trump had a good year, man, Rock quipped, You know, it could happen to a nicer guy. He also humorously predicted that Trump would deport the Menendez Brothers upon their release from prison.
The comedian also suggested that Trump's second term would be different due to the influence of Elon Musk, whom he amusingly referred to as the richest African-American in the world.
Rock didn't spare President Joe Biden either, particularly for pardoning his son, Hunter Biden. I gotta hand it to Joe, man, Rock said. You know, he dont move as fast as he used to. He dont talk as fast as he used to. But that middle finger still works, boy.
