Former FBI Director James Comey didnt hold back when giving his opinion on the latest news about the indictment of former President Donald Trump.
Fox News reports that Comey said: Its been a good day..
Manhattan District Attorney Alivn Bragg has been investigating alleged hush money payments made by Donald Trump to silence Stormy Daniels in the lead-up to the 2016 election. The allegation is that Trump made those payments to keep Daniels silent about an alleged affair so that it wouldnt derail his campaign. It is also said that he funneled the money through his then-lawyer to make it happen.
James Comey was fired by Trump in 2017 as he was one of the main figures involved in the Russia investigation against Trump. Comey is saying that the legal saga that Trump is going through is a good thing for the country. Could it be that he is simply upset about the treatment he received from Trump in 2017? Some feel that this is the case and that Comey is taking petty personal disagreements with Trump onto the national stage now.
Fox News first reported the existence of hush money payments being made to both Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal in 2018. Those payments remain the subject of an investigation by the U.S. Attorneys Office in the Southern District of New York and the Federal Election Commission.
Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York backed off of charging Trump criminally with anything related to the hush money payments.
The Federal Election Commission also tossed out any potential charges against Trump in 2021 related to these hush money payments. However, Alvin Bragg seems ready to take on this prosecution for the same alleged charges that have already been investigated and discarded by those other investigative bodies. This is frustrating Team Trump as they believe this is nothing more than a witch hunt against the former President. They would like to see some individuals held responsible for doing this and going after the former President so aggressively like this.
Fox News reports that Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing related to these transactions. He claims that they were merely personal transactions and were not a violation of election campaign law. He insists that these payments were not made to silence Stormy Daniels in this case, and he is certain that he will ultimately be vindicated.
