Nikki Haley, once a contender against former President Donald Trump in the Republican primary, has now emerged as an ally.
In a surprising turn of events, Haley penned a supportive op-ed for Trump, published just two days before the election.
According to Breitbart, Haley, the former South Carolina governor, had initially challenged Trump in the 2024 Republican primary. However, after a series of losses on Super Tuesday, she withdrew from the race in early March. Her campaign had only managed to secure victories in two primary contests - one in Washington, DC, and the other in Vermont.
Despite her previous opposition, Haley has now put her past differences aside, advocating for Trump in her recent op-ed. She urged the "millions" of Americans with mixed feelings about Trump to cast their votes in his favor. "I dont agree with Mr. Trump 100% of the time," Haley, who served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations under Trump, wrote. "But I do agree with him most of the time, and I disagree with Ms. Harris nearly all the time. That makes this an easy call."
Haley then highlighted the areas where Trump's policies outshine those of his opponents. She criticized the Biden-Harris administration for worsening the situation at the southern border, which she considers the most pressing security threat. She also condemned their handling of Afghanistan, arguing that it not only created a new terrorist state but also signaled weakness, sparking Russia's war against Ukraine. Furthermore, she criticized their appeasement of Iran, which she believes has emboldened the regime to wage war against Israel through its terrorist proxies.
While acknowledging that Trump's potential return to the White House "wouldnt be perfect," Haley argued that it would bring about tax cuts, increased support for American energy, and an improved standing on the global stage. "These are enormous policy differences that will affect the lives of every American and much of the world," Haley wrote.
She also acknowledged that Trump might make decisions she disagrees with in a second term. However, she argued that the question voters should consider is not whether they agree with everything a politician does, but whether they are better off with his policies or his opponent's.
Haley concluded her piece by stating, "Mr. Trump is clearly the better choice." This statement underscores her belief that despite his flaws, Trump's policies align more closely with conservative values and are more beneficial for the American people.
