In a strategic move to galvanize support ahead of the upcoming elections, former President Donald Trump is set to host a grand campaign rally at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City this Sunday.
This event, scheduled just over a week before the polls open, is a clear demonstration of Trump's commitment to reclaiming the political landscape.
According to Fox News, the rally, which was open to all on a first-come, first-serve basis, saw its tickets sold out within hours of the announcement. The Madison Square Garden, a 19,500-seat venue renowned as the home of the New York Knicks and New York Rangers, is now poised to host a political event of significant magnitude.
The Trump campaign has revealed that the rally will feature an array of political figures, celebrities, and musical artists, along with friends and family of the former President. They will collectively highlight Trump as the optimal solution to rectify the issues they attribute to Kamala Harris. "This epic event, in the heart of President Trump's home city, will be a showcase of the historic political movement that President Trump has built in the final days of the campaign," the campaign stated in a press release.
Among the high-profile attendees are Elon Musk and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO Dana White, both of whom have previously shown their support for Trump. Musk notably delivered a stirring speech at a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania, earlier this month. Dana White, a long-time friend of Trump and instrumental in reviving the mixed martial arts company in the early 2000s, introduced the former president at this years Republican National Convention, emphasizing the high stakes of the election.
The rally will also see the participation of other notable figures such as former Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, political commentator Tucker Carlson, and former Democrat presidential nominee turned Republican Tulsi Gabbard. Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance, Speaker Mike Johnson, Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., are also expected to attend.
The event will also feature appearances from the music world, including Death Row Records founder Michael Harris Jr., singer Lee Greenwood, and opera singer Christopher Macchio.
The Madison Square Garden has a rich history of hosting political conventions, having been the venue for the Republican National Convention (RNC) in 2004 and the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in 1924, 1976, 1980, and 1992. The last Republican to carry New York in a White House race was then-President Ronald Reagan during his 1984 re-election landslide.
Trump has been vocal about his ambitions to expand his influence beyond traditional Republican strongholds. "We're making a play for New Jersey. We're making a play for Virginia," Trump declared at a rally earlier this month, adding that he also aims to compete in Minnesota and New Mexico.
During a campaign stop at an Upper Manhattan bodega earlier this year, Trump expressed his intent to "straighten out New York." He emphasized the need to restore authority to the police and curb crime, stating, "And we're going to come into New York. We're making a big play for New York, other cities, too. But this city, I love this city."
This rally marks Trumps second major event in the state of New York, following a rally at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island, last month. The event drew requests for more than 60,000 tickets, far exceeding the venue's 16,000-seat capacity.
While it remains unlikely that the traditionally Democrat-leaning New York will swing Republican in the White House race, another rally in the state could potentially bolster Republicans down the ballot as they strive to maintain their House of Representatives majority in the forthcoming November elections.
