George Washington University is backing up its diversity professor.
A complaint to the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights says her class was psychologically traumatizing. Students said they were in tears and wound up on anti-depressants.
George Washington University recently released a report regarding an internal investigation into the mandatory diversity course. According to the university, the course did not cross a line. However, students disagree.
According to the complaint, Lari Sheehi, the teacher, publicly berated a student because they used the term terrorist attack. According to the complaint, the student was accused of being Islamaphobic.
Another student points out the anti-semitic issues with the teacher. Per Fox News, We were demeaned, and she twisted our words to make us look like the problem, which is pretty classic anti-Semitism, scapegoating the Jew, gaslighting the Jew, making us seem like were the issue, a student told the Daily Caller.
One student points out how upset they were after the teacher brought in a speaker that the student says justified the harm to Israeli civilians. The student said they felt unsafe, and the teachers response crossed a line. Per Fox News, In response, Professor Sheehi called the students comment a damaging Islamophobic anti-Palestinian comment and added that a stone is nothing compared to an army.
Students also spoke with The Jewish Journal. One student points out the damaging impact of the course. They said they could not eat or sleep, and it was difficult to hold down a job.
According to the students, Sheehi launched a personal attack on them, and the university silenced them. Per Fox, She turned the faculty against the Jewish students by spreading lies about us and our conduct. She disparaged us in front of our classmates, calling us Islamophobes, a student told The Algemeiner. Then, students said that they have to deal with disciplinary proceedings.
George Washington University denies all of the above. They say nothing is wrong with the course, and students were not disciplined as retaliation.
