The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been accused of downplaying its endorsement of agents who publicly demonstrated solidarity with Black Lives Matter protesters, according to a recent revelation by the Heritage Oversight Project.
The Project's executive director, Mike Howell, shared these findings with Glenn Beck, co-founder of Blaze Media, shedding light on the FBI's controversial actions during the 2020 protests.
According to The Blaze, Howell's organization obtained documents that revealed the FBI's support for agents who kneeled during a Black Lives Matter protest in Washington, D.C. These agents, predominantly female, were dubbed "Kneel Team Six." Howell expressed his dismay at the situation, stating, "Think about how outrageous that is. The FBI is supposed to be the top legal arm in this country, and here they are in the midst of the country burning down, in front of everybody's eyes, kneeling in solidarity with the rioters."
The images of these kneeling agents gained considerable attention on social media, leading to widespread criticism. Howell noted, "This garnered some traction on social media and elsewhere and some of the pictures are absolutely outrageous. You have a woman in there who clearly can't pass any sort of physical fitness test. It's just a terrible look for the FBI."
The Heritage Oversight Project took legal action against the FBI in 2020, demanding the release of documents related to the incident. The findings, published on Monday, contradicted the FBI's initial claims. Howell emphasized, "It wasn't just this isolated incident of a liberal sect of the FBI. No, it was approved and sanctioned by the FBI brass in their reaction to it."
The documents revealed that the FBI attempted to portray the incident as an act of de-escalation, rather than an expression of solidarity with the protesters. However, the agents involved were reportedly rewarded for their actions. "They were greeted with gift cards, rewards, promotions, all praise from the tippity-top of the brass, including Director Christopher Wray," Howell revealed.
Further adding to the controversy, Howell suggested that the removal of a viral TikTok video about the incident could indicate the FBI's attempt to suppress public knowledge of the event. "You have elements potentially of what screams of a cover-up," he concluded. The FBI, when approached by Blaze News for a comment on the matter, declined to respond.
