In a recent dialogue with Telemundo, Vice President Kamala Harris expressed her support for a broad amnesty for illegal immigrants, a stance that appears to contradict her previous assertions favoring a more stringent border policy.
This revelation came to light when the Vice President was questioned about the issue of deportations.
"Currently, the focus is on border security, and no Democrat is discussing a pathway to citizenship or immigration relief, or the benefits that migrants bring to this nation," Harris was informed. In response, she stuttered, "I am I am talking," as reported by The Post Millennial.
Harris then proceeded to outline her immigration policy, albeit in a somewhat muddled manner. "There is no doubt that migrants contribute... America is a nation that was, in part, built by immigrants," she stated. When confronted with the topic of "mass deportations," Harris firmly declared, "Im not." She attempted to encapsulate her stance by stating, "We need smart, humane immigration policy in America, that includes a pathway to citizenship."
In addition to her immigration policy, Harris also sought to elucidate her economic principles, asserting, "I am a capitalist. I am a pragmatic capitalist. She portrayed her economic ideology as a symbiotic relationship between the government and the private sector, working in unison "to drive new industries and build up small business owners, to allow us to increase home ownership, to allow people and their families to build intergenerational wealth."
However, Harris's recent comments seem to be in stark contrast with her earlier support for a more robust border policy. She has made attempts to distance herself from the lax border security measures of her own administration under President Joe Biden.
The issue of illegal immigration has not only escalated the number of terrorists gaining entry into the country but also poses a significant threat to the immigrants themselves. Federal Health and Human Service Department records indicate that instances of sex trafficking involving migrant children have tripled during this period. The U.S. Customs and Border Patrol has issued warnings about the high risk of exploitation faced by many children crossing the border. These alarming statistics underscore the urgent need for a comprehensive and humane immigration policy that safeguards both national security and the welfare of immigrants.
