In Sierra Madre, California, resident Jay Senese made an alarming discovery while tending to his yard last Saturday.
He unearthed nearly a dozen ballots, not intended for him, hidden in a storm drain. This incident, as reported by ABC 7, has reignited the fiery debate over election security and the potential for fraud.
Senese, while landscaping near his property, noticed unusual debris in the storm drain adjacent to his house. Upon further investigation, he found the ballots, addressed to residents in nearby Arcadia, California. "Were trained here to keep stuff out of the storm drain. So I got down on my hands and knees and dug around a little bit and started pulling it out, Senese told ABC 7.
His discovery was startling. I pulled out a bunch of junk mailRalphs ads and Aldiand these ballots were mixed in with the junk mail. Of course, they caught my attention because were seeing on TV about all the care being taken to prevent fraud and misuse of ballots. It seemed a strange place for ballots to be.
According to Gateway Pundit, Senese's experience has become a symbol of the concerns conservatives have been voicing: the mishandling and potential tampering of mail-in ballots that could compromise the integrity of free and fair elections. Despite Democrats' assurances of the security of mail-in voting, instances like this continue to surface, eroding public trust.
Senese suspects that someone rifled through mailboxes in the area, took what they wanted, and discarded the restincluding these official ballotsinto the storm drain. Im one of these people whos gotten almost everything paperless now. I dont get a lot of personal mail. The only thing I get these days that might be like that is a replacement credit card or something, Senese said.
In light of such incidents, the LA County Registrars website allows voters to request a replacement ballot if theirs has been lost or stolen, but this can only be done once. This measure, while helpful, does little to assuage the fears of potential widespread ballot mishandling and its implications for the democratic process.
