In the final countdown to Election Day, billionaires Mark Cuban and Elon Musk are stepping up their political engagement, throwing their weight behind their chosen presidential candidates.
According to CNBC, Cuban, a former "Shark Tank" star and ex-majority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, is set to campaign with Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in Wisconsin. This marks the first of three swing states Cuban will visit in support of Harris' bid for the presidency. Concurrently, Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, will embark on a speaking tour across Pennsylvania with America PAC, a super political action committee he is using to channel tens of millions of dollars in support of Republican nominee Donald Trump.
These actions underscore the increasingly active roles both men are playing in advocating for their preferred presidential contenders. Cuban will join Harris at events in Milwaukee and La Crosse, before heading to Phoenix, Arizona, to host a discussion on Harris' economic agenda. He will then campaign with second gentleman Douglas Emhoff in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
On the other side of the political divide, Musk will host a town hall in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, to encourage absentee and early voting. This announcement came shortly after Federal Election Commission filings revealed Musk's substantial financial contributions to America PAC, totaling nearly $75 million between July and early September.
Cuban's active campaigning follows his frequent public praise of Harris on various media platforms, including CNBC. He has been a vocal critic of Trump, particularly his economic policies. During a Harris campaign press call last month, Cuban lambasted Trump's promise to impose sweeping tariffs and higher import taxes on China as "lunacy."
Cuban argued, "And so to say that we're going to tariff 10% or 20% or 60% for China or any other company, countries, that's just inflationary, and that's just the tax on the American people. That's a sales tax through and through."
Meanwhile, Musk has shown his support for Trump by joining him onstage at a campaign event near Butler, Pennsylvania. This active involvement of billionaires in the political arena underscores the high stakes of the upcoming election and the lengths to which they are willing to go to support their chosen candidates.
