In a show of unity, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Cheryl Hines, were seen together at a public event, despite recent allegations of an affair between Kennedy and reporter Olivia Nuzzi.
The couple was spotted hand in hand at the memorial service for Kennedy's mother, Ethel Kennedy, held at the Cathedral of St. Matthew in Washington, DC.
According to Page Six, the memorial service for Ethel Kennedy, the widow of former Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, was attended by several notable figures, including former President Barack Obama, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and President Biden. Ethel Kennedy passed away on October 10 at the age of 96 due to complications related to a stroke.
The memorial service took place amidst a scandal involving Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Olivia Nuzzi. Nuzzi's ex-fianc, Ryan Lizza, claimed in court documents that Nuzzi had been involved in an affair with Kennedy for almost a year. Lizza quoted Nuzzi as describing her relationship with Kennedy as "toxic," "unhealthy," "stupid," "psychotic," "crazy," and "indefensible." Kennedy, according to Lizza's court documents, had expressed a desire to "possess," "control," and "impregnate" Nuzzi.
The scandal first came to light last month when Nuzzi, a political correspondent for New York Magazine, admitted to having a personal relationship with Kennedy. This admission came after allegations that Kennedy had bragged about "intimate" images she had sent him. As a result of this revelation, Nuzzi was suspended from her position at New York Magazine for violating the magazine's standards around conflicts of interest and disclosures.
Despite the scandal, Cheryl Hines has remained supportive of her husband. She was seen publicly expressing her support for Kennedy following his mother's death. The couple, who married in 2014, was also seen holding hands at the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, further demonstrating their unity in the face of adversity.
