In a shocking incident, a vehicle that had just dropped off a gunshot victim at a Philadelphia hospital sped away, hitting three nurses in the process and leaving one in a critical condition, according to authorities.

The incident, which took place at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, has left the city in shock and raised questions about safety measures in place for healthcare workers.

As reported by Fox News, the Philadelphia Police Department stated that the incident occurred at the early hours of 4:30 a.m. on Saturday. A silver Jeep Cherokee had dropped off a 28-year-old gunshot victim at the hospital's ambulance bay and then hastily left the scene. In an attempt to provide immediate assistance to the gunshot victim, three nurses rushed outside, only to be hit by the fleeing vehicle.

The driver's reckless act resulted in severe injuries for the nurses. A 36-year-old nurse is now battling for her life with facial injuries and internal bleeding. Two other nurses, aged 37 and 51, suffered head and back injuries respectively, but are reported to be in stable condition. The gunshot victim, who had multiple wounds, may have also sustained a head injury in the hit-and-run incident.

The victims are currently receiving treatment at the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, the very institution they were serving or rushed to for help. Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt for the driver of the Jeep Cherokee, urging anyone with information about the shooting or the driver to come forward.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks that healthcare workers face, even as they strive to save lives. It also underscores the need for stricter law enforcement and the importance of individual responsibility in ensuring the safety of all citizens.
