In a tragic turn of events, the CEO of a Utah-based software company met his untimely death during a climbing expedition in Zion National Park, Springdale, Utah.
The unfortunate incident occurred over the weekend, as confirmed by park officials.
Justin Bingham, 40, was engaged in canyoneering near the exit of Heaps Canyon around 6 p.m. local time on Saturday when he fell an estimated 150 to 200 feet, as reported by The New York Post. The National Parks Service (NPS) confirmed that Bingham was accompanied by three other climbers, all of whom were adhering to their permitted itinerary.
Upon receiving the distressing report of Bingham's fall, the Zion National Park Technical Search and Rescue Team, in collaboration with the Washington County Sheriffs Office, promptly arrived at the scene to provide emergency medical assistance. Bingham was airlifted by a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter to a location where he received further aid. However, despite the swift response and concerted efforts, Bingham was pronounced dead before he could be transported to a hospital by air ambulance.
Zion National Park Superintendent Jeff Bradybaugh expressed his condolences, stating, Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time.
