AOCs Explosive Threat: Political Violence Looms Over Lina Khans FTC Role

In a recent development, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) issued a stern warning against any attempts to unseat Lina Khan from her position as the chairwoman of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

The congresswoman's remarks came in response to billionaire Mark Cuban's suggestion that Vice President Kamala Harris, if victorious in the upcoming presidential election, should consider replacing Khan.

"Let me make this clear, since billionaires have been trying to play footsie with the ticket: Anyone goes near Lina Khan and there will be an out and out brawl. And that is a promise. She proves this admin fights for working people. It would be terrible leadership to remove her," Ocasio-Cortez stated emphatically.

According to The Post Millennial, Cuban's comments were made during a luncheon hosted by the Kaiser Family Foundation. While he expressed approval of Khan's decision to launch antitrust investigations into pharmacies, he criticized her stance against big tech's use of AI. "The bigger picture is, shes hurting more than shes helping," Cuban opined. However, the FTC dismissed Cuban's critique, reiterating Khan's belief that "extreme consolidation" is detrimental to the US economy. "Chair Khan believes that choosing competition over centralized corporate control of markets is the path to letting the best ideas win," FTC spokesperson Doug Farrar told Semafor.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) also voiced his unwavering support for Khan, taking to social media platform X to express his views. "@mcuban is wrong. Lina Khan is the best FTC Chair in modern history. By taking on corporate greed & illegal monopolies, Lina is doing an exceptional job preventing large corporations from ripping-off consumers & exploiting workers. Thanks @linakhanFTC for what you are doing," Sanders posted.

Ocasio-Cortez, known for her progressive stance, has previously expressed her support for Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential candidate, despite her earlier concerns about the "enormous peril" of President Joe Biden being ousted from the nomination he secured through the primary system.

Biden later acknowledged that he was indeed removed from the presidential race by influential Democrats, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. This latest development underscores the ongoing tension and power dynamics within the Democratic party.
