'Rocket Man' Kim Jong Un: Were All About Peace, Except When Were Not

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has once again targeted South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, reiterating his commitment to transforming Pyongyang into a leading nuclear power.

This marks the second time in a week that Kim has issued a stern warning to the South Korean leader.

Kim Jong Un accused President Yoon of making a "tasteless and vulgar comment about the end of the Republic," as reported by Reuters. He suggested that Yoon's remarks reflect his blind faith in his alliance with Washington. "To be honest, we have absolutely no intention of attacking South Korea," Kim stated during a speech at the Kim Jong Un National Defense University, a military school named in his honor.

This verbal exchange follows South Korea's condemnation of North Korea's unveiling of a new nuclear facility last month. In a show of force, South Korea showcased a new Hyunmoo-5 ballistic missile during its Armed Forces Day last week. According to Newsweek, this missile is capable of annihilating underground facilities in North Korea.

President Yoon has consistently advocated for a denuclearized North Korea amidst escalating regional tensions. However, Kim Jong Un, who has long sought to enhance North Korea's nuclear capabilities, has rejected these calls. "Every time I stated our position on the use of military force, I clearly and consistently used the qualification if," Kim said. He further warned, "If the enemies try to use force against our country, the republic's military will use all offensive power without hesitation. This does not preclude the use of nuclear weapons."

Kim Jong Un emphasized his commitment to transforming North Korea into a military superpower and a nuclear power. "Our footsteps toward becoming a military superpower and a nuclear power will accelerate," he declared.

This is the second time in a week that Kim has issued a dire warning to South Korea. Earlier this month, he cautioned that North Korea would retaliate with nuclear force if its sovereignty was threatened. According to Fox News, state-run news agency KNCA reported last week that Kim "affirmed that 'if' the enemy, seized with extreme foolishness and recklessness, attempt to use armed forces encroaching upon the sovereignty of the DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] the DPRK would use without hesitation all the offensive forces it has possessed, including nuclear weapons."
