In a recent episode of his late-night show, Jimmy Kimmel took aim at tech mogul Elon Musk for his appearance at a political rally for Donald Trump in Pennsylvania.
Kimmel's critique focused on Musk's entrance, which he described as "terrible."
During the show, Kimmel played a clip for his live audience, showing Musk energetically bounding onto the stage alongside Trump at the rally held on October 5. The host humorously overlaid the clip with sound effects from the Super Mario video games, quipping, "Say what you want about Elon, the man is absolutely dripping with charisma."
According to The Decider, Kimmel also showcased a slow-motion replay of Musk's awkward leap onto the stage. The host likened the moment to the end of an '80s comedy, where a freeze frame is used to explain the outcome of the story.
The late-night host didn't stop at mocking Musk's entrance. He also criticized the seemingly newfound camaraderie between Musk and Trump, despite their history of public feuds on social media. "They're both so terrible," Kimmel remarked, dubbing them "Twitter-dee and Twitter-dum."
Kimmel highlighted a past tweet from Trump, in which the former president referred to Musk as a "BS artist." Trump had also claimed that Musk would have begged on his knees if asked during a White House visit. On the other hand, Musk had previously expressed concern over Trump's age, stating in 2022 that Trump "would be 82 at the end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America."
Despite their past differences, Kimmel noted with irony that the two appeared to be "really good pals" now. He shared a photograph of Musk and Trump shaking hands, which he described as a rare glimpse of "two devils making a deal with each other."
The rally took place in Butler, Pennsylvania, the same location where an assassination attempt on Trump was made by a 17-year-old in July. Following the incident, Musk publicly endorsed Trump for the first time, stating, "I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery."
During the rally, Musk called on the attendees to vote for Trump "to preserve democracy in America," warning that if they didn't, "this will be the last election. That's my prediction," as reported by The New York Times.
