The quiet community of Tangipahoa Parish in Louisiana was rocked by a gruesome discovery on Sunday morning.
A local therapist, Dr. William Nicholas Abraham, aged 69, was found dead, his body concealed in a tarpaulin by the side of a highway. The shocking discovery was made by an unsuspecting passerby.
According to the Daily Caller, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office (TPSO) has described the incident as a "violent attack," with the victim showing signs of blunt force trauma to his neck, head, and shoulders. Sheriff Gerald Sticker painted a chilling picture of the crime, stating, "It was a very physical and very violent attack. He was bludgeoned about in the head, shoulders, and neck. There was a lot of bruising, what have you."
In a bid to solve this horrifying crime, the TPSO has turned to the public for assistance. They are seeking to identify a person of interest in the homicide investigation. The individual, captured in store surveillance footage, is believed to be the last person seen driving Dr. Abraham's vehicle. The TPSO press release noted that the driver had evaded a traffic stop and subsequently fled on foot after crashing the car.
Sheriff Sticker urged the public to help piece together the events of that fateful Saturday evening, stating, "[A]ny information that the public can give us to help us put the picture together of Saturday, Saturday evening before he was ultimately murdered which we believe occurred sometime Saturday night." Detectives are working on the theory that Dr. Abraham was killed elsewhere and his body later discarded on the highway.
Those who knew Dr. Abraham are struggling to come to terms with the brutal murder. Jarrett Ambeau, an acquaintance of the victim, expressed his shock and grief, saying, "He [Dr. Abraham] was kind, loving, a gentle man, and frankly not the kind of man that something like this wouldve happened to. Im absolutely devastated and completely surprised that something like that couldve happened to a man who I believe to be so tender and so gentle and have such a service heart."
