In a shocking incident that has left a community reeling, a man from Miami, Florida, stands accused of a brutal double murder, allegedly killing his ex-wife and her boyfriend while the woman's four children were present in the house.

David Phillip Turner, 33, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Crimea Malita Baker, 33, and Sean Antoine Lange, 34.

According to The Independent, the victims were discovered in their New Market, Maryland home on August 25, each having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins revealed in a press conference that Turner is suspected to have entered the home through the back door around 1 am, finding the couple in their bed. The suspect then reportedly unleashed a hail of bullets, firing "more than 42 rounds" at close range.

Frederick County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the scene around 7 am, discovering the two victims. The four children, all aged 13 and under, were found unharmed within the residence. Turner is the father of three of the children, while Lange fathered the fourth, authorities confirmed. Law enforcement officials stated they had no reason to believe there had been any contact between Turner and his ex-wife prior to the attack.

Sheriff Jenkins characterized the incident as "a heinous violent crime a targeted double murder and a crime of rage and anger," one that has profoundly impacted the local community. "Their (The childrens) lives will never be the same," he added, underscoring the lasting trauma inflicted on the young victims.

Turner's arrest came about a month after an arrest warrant was issued. He was apprehended on a south Florida beach on Saturday in a joint operation involving Fort Lauderdale Police, the FBI, and the Frederick County Sheriffs Office. In addition to the murder charges, Turner faces counts of home invasion and use of a firearm in a crime of violence or felony.

Currently, Turner is being held at the Broward County Sheriffs Office Jail in Florida as he awaits extradition to Maryland. Sheriff Jenkins expressed gratitude to the local community in a press release, stating: This investigation has been a priority of this office since the morning of the shootings. In anxiously waiting for closure and the arrest of the person responsible, the public has been extremely patient and can now be completely confident that this was a targeted domestic-related murder. I extend my thanks to the Lake Linganore Community for their assistance in the investigation and their patience while we worked to apprehend the murderer.

The tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating effects of domestic violence, and the urgent need for effective measures to prevent such heinous acts. The community's resilience and cooperation in the face of such a tragedy is commendable, as they continue to seek justice for the victims and their children.
