Clinton Doubles Down: Why She Thinks Deplorable Wasnt Harsh Enough For Trump Fans

Hillary Clinton, the former presidential candidate who has twice been unsuccessful in her bid for the White House, has revisited her controversial 2016 comment about Donald Trump's supporters, referring to them as a "basket of deplorables."

In a recent op-ed for The Washington Post, Clinton not only reaffirmed her previous statement but also suggested that it may have been an understatement.

According to Sean Hannity, the op-ed was an excerpt from Clinton's latest memoir, "Something Lost, Something Gained: Reflections on Life, Love, and Liberty." In the piece, Clinton wrote, "In 2016, I famously described half of Trumps supporters as the basket of deplorables. I was talking about the people who are drawn to his racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia you name it. The people for whom his bigotry is a feature, not a bug."

Clinton admitted that her choice of words was politically unfortunate but insisted that it revealed a significant truth. She wrote, "Just look at everything that has happened in the years since, from Charlottesville to Jan. 6. The masks have come off, and if anything, deplorable is too kind a word for the hate and violent extremism weve seen from some Trump supporters."

In her op-ed, Clinton also revisited her previous assertion that Trump supporters are "irredeemable." She wrote, "Talking about the deplorables in 2016, I said, Some of those folks, they are irredeemable. Part of me would still say this is objectively true. Just look at the lack of remorse from many of the Jan. 6 insurrectionists whove been convicted of sedition and other crimes."

Clinton's remarks have drawn attention recently, particularly her assertion that Donald Trump poses a threat to the country and the world. This statement came shortly after a second attempt on Trump's life. Clinton's comments, while controversial, reflect her ongoing critique of Trump's influence and the behavior of his supporters.
