In a recent development that has escalated global tensions, Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a significant alteration to Russia's nuclear doctrine, effectively lowering the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons by Russian strategic forces.
This move, seen by many as a step towards a potential nuclear conflict, was announced during a televised address to Russia's Security Council.
According to the Gateway Pundit, Putin's message was a stark warning to NATO and top Russian leaders, following a series of meetings on Wednesday. In his address, Putin stated, "The updated version of the document proposes that aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear weapons state but with the participation or support of a nuclear weapon state should be regarded as a joint attack on the Russian federation."
Putin went on to clarify the conditions under which Russia would consider the use of nuclear weapons. "We will consider such a possibility as soon as we receive reliable information about a massive launch of aerospace attack NEDS and their crossing of our state border. Meaning strategic or tactical aircraft, cruise missiles, drones, hypersonic missiles and other aircraft," he said.
Furthermore, Putin emphasized that Russia reserves the right to use nuclear weapons in the event of aggression against both Russia and Belarus, as a member of the union state. He confirmed that these agreements have been agreed upon with the Belarussian side and with the president of Belarus.
Last week, the Gateway Pundit reported Putin's warning that NATO's approval would fundamentally alter the nature of the conflict. He cautioned that Kiev would face destruction. Putin explained, "The key is that only NATO servicemen can enter flight assignments into these missile systems. Ukrainian servicemen cannot do this."
Putin's comments underscored the potential for NATO countries' direct involvement in the military conflict. "If this decision is made it will mean nothing other than the direct participation of NATO countries, the United States, European countries, in the war in Ukraine. This is their direct participation and this already significantly changes the very essence and the very nature of the conflict," he said.
Putin's stark warning implies a potential shift in the global power dynamics, suggesting that NATO countries and the United States could find themselves at war with Russia. This development underscores the importance of diplomatic efforts and strategic decision-making in the face of escalating global tensions.
