A recent revelation by a Gateway Pundit reader has brought to light the contentious issue of late-term abortion access in the United States.
The reader, inspired by an Instagram video of a woman pretending to be 34 weeks pregnant and seeking abortion services, decided to conduct her own investigation. The findings were startling, with evidence of several clinics willing to perform abortions well into the third trimester.
"I saw a video on Instagram of a girl calling an abortion clinic pretending to be 34 weeks pregnant. I did the same thingcalled a few clinics. The first clinic I contacted was willing to help me at 34 weeks!" the reader disclosed to The Gateway Pundit. The reader, who wished to remain anonymous, reached out to an abortion clinic in New York City.
As reported by Gateway Pundit, the conversation with the clinic representative at ParkMed in New York City began with the anonymous caller stating she was 34 weeks pregnant and seeking an abortion. Despite the clinic's policy of not accepting insurance for abortions past 34 weeks, they were willing to schedule a consultation for the caller. The consultation fee was $425, excluding potential follow-up procedures.
When the caller inquired about financial assistance, the clinic representative promptly suggested organizations that could help cover the cost of the procedures. This interaction suggests a well-structured system of financial support for late-term abortions.
According to the ParkMed website, the clinic offers an In-Clinic Abortion in the second trimester, also known as Dilatation and Evacuation (D&E), for pregnancies between 13-24 weeks gestation. The website also clarifies that the term "late term" abortion, often used by anti-abortion groups, is medically incorrect, and the scientifically correct term is "later abortion."
The website further explains the process of a second trimester Laborless Abortion, which takes place over two consecutive days. The procedure involves cervical dilators, an injection into the uterus for pre-operative fetal demise, and a Dilation & Evacuation (D&E) / Laborless Abortion procedure.
The anonymous caller was also provided with a list of clinics from the DuPont Clinic in D.C., such as the Partners Clinic in College Park, MD, and the CARE Clinic in Bethesda, MD, which also perform abortions up to or beyond 34 weeks.
The text from the DuPont Clinic included contact information for funding organizations that could assist with the cost of the procedure, such as the National Abortion Hotline (NAH) and the National Network of Abortion Funds.
The Gateway Pundit has reached out to ParkMed in New York City for comments regarding their abortion policies and practices mentioned in this article. At the time of publication, no response has been received.
This revelation underscores the ongoing debate surrounding late-term abortion access in the United States. While some view it as a necessary provision for women's reproductive rights, others argue that it infringes upon the rights of the unborn. As the conversation continues, it remains crucial to ensure that accurate information is disseminated, and that both sides of the argument are heard and respected.
