In a shocking revelation, New York City's COVID-19 czar, Dr. Jay Varma, has been accused of engaging in drug-fueled orgies in hotel rooms, while simultaneously imposing stringent pandemic restrictions on the city's residents.
Amidst the ensuing uproar, a faction within the City Council has called for Varma to be subpoenaed to testify. Varma has conceded to attending "private gatherings" during the pandemic, but he has accused "extremist right-wing" Steven Crowder of misrepresenting his comments.
According to The Post Millennial, the New York City Council Common Sense Caucus has demanded that not only Varma but also his former superior, Bill de Blasio, and Dr. David Chokshi, another member of the city's health team during the pandemic, be subpoenaed to testify before the council. The caucus has cited a "disturbing video" featuring Varma, who they claim "bragged about his role as the COVID-19 czar."
The caucus's letter to the council leadership states, "By his own admission, while our city and state government were forcing businesses to close, firing thousands of dedicated employees, preventing faith communities from worshipping together, and keeping New Yorkers from visiting their dying loved ones, Dr. Varmaone of the chief architects and proponents of these devastating policieswas breaking every rule he coerced others to follow by engaging in drug-fueled orgies. The caucus expressed its disgust at the "blatant hypocrisy and recklessness by a public official entrusted with such enormous responsibility."
Former Mayor Bill de Blasio, who is now residing in Michigan, has sought to distance himself from Varma in an interview with News Nation. He claimed ignorance of Varma's alleged activities but did not disassociate himself from the policies Varma recommended and which he implemented. De Blasio stated, "I had no knowledge of it. I find it disgusting and unacceptable. This is someone we trusted, as a teammate to tell the people of New York City, from an extensive medical background, how we could keep everyone safe. And that also meant we all had to show integrity and consistency. I'm shocked. It's painful, it's unacceptable. I hope he has apologized to his colleagues, and, even more so, to the people in New York City. He owes everyone an apology, for sure."
De Blasio had enforced vaccine mandates at Varma's behest, who had proudly disclosed to an undercover reporter from Steven Crowder's Mug Club Investigations that he had planned to impose the vaccine on all New Yorkers. This led to many losing their jobs, including frontline, essential workers who refused to take the vaccine, which was approved by the FDA under an emergency use authorization. Varma told the undercover reporter, "I was actually the one who convinced the mayor to make it a mandate."
Varma further elaborated on his strategy to persuade everyone to take the vaccine, stating, "We make it very uncomfortable to be unvaccinated." As a result, vaccines were mandated, and New Yorkers were required to present their vaccine cards before being allowed entry into restaurants or other venues. Varma admitted, "They didn't get vaccinated because they heard it was safe, they gave in because it was really hard."
In addition to keeping schools closed in collaboration with de Blasio, at the behest of teachers' unions, Varma also enforced the mandate on city workers and private sector employees, including the city's professional athletes. When questioned about the necessity of imposing these mandates on everyone, he responded, "What type of message does it send to New Yorkers if rich people, powerful people, connected people, basically get to make their own rules?"
The controversy surrounding Varma underscores the stark contrast between his personal actions and the stringent measures he imposed on New Yorkers. While he allegedly indulged in drug-fueled orgies, he simultaneously forced New Yorkers to comply with his mandates or risk losing their jobs. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential for hypocrisy and abuse of power in public office, highlighting the need for transparency and accountability in leadership.
