In a recent promotional video for her forthcoming memoir, former First Lady Melania Trump expressed her disapproval of the FBI's 2022 raid on Mar-a-Lago, the Trump family's Florida estate.
The raid was conducted due to allegations of improper storage of classified documents by her husband, former President Donald Trump.
According to Mediaite, the video begins with the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution displayed on the screen, followed by images of the Trump estate and music. The former First Lady then criticizes the FBI's decision to invade her home. In 2022, the agency confiscated over 100 classified documents and folders from the estate, which were allegedly taken during Trump's departure from the White House in 2021. Subsequently, Trump faced 40 charges related to mishandling classified records and obstruction. However, these charges were dismissed by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon in July.
In the video, Melania Trump expressed her shock at the government's intrusion into her privacy. "I never imagined my privacy would be invaded by the government here in America," she said. "The FBI raided my home in Florida and searched through my personal belongings."
She further emphasized the broader implications of her experience, stating, "This is not just my story, it serves as a warning to all Americans, a reminder that our freedom and rights must be respected."
The video concludes with a glimpse of the cover of her upcoming book, titled "Melania," which is slated for release on October 1st.
Judge Cannon's dismissal of the case against the former president was based on her ruling that special counsel Jack Smith was not lawfully appointed by the Department of Justice. Smith is currently appealing the decision. Earlier, Trump had stated that the former First Lady felt "very violated" by the FBI's raid on their home.
