In a recent announcement, former GOP President Donald Trump outlined his plans for a potential second term in the White House, focusing on issues of federal housing subsidies and taxation.
Trump declared that companies benefiting from federal housing subsidies would be obligated to confirm the citizenship or residency status of prospective tenants.
Trump stated, "When I return to the White House, we will require that all companies receiving federal housing subsidies to verify citizenship. Were going to verify citizenship, were going to make sure that its a legal residency. And as a condition of their rental agreement, theyre going to have to do all of it." He further emphasized that "Taxpayers will not subsidize apartment rentals for illegal aliens, and we will not permit illegals to drive up costs for Americans in need."
According to The Post Millennial, this announcement comes amidst an unprecedented surge in illegal immigration under the Biden-Harris administration. Although the monthly encounters have seen a slight decrease recently, the 2024 fiscal year could witness over 2 million encounters at the southern border. As of July, the US Customs and Border Patrol recorded 1.92 million encounters. Since the start of the fiscal year 2021 in October 2020, authorities have encountered over 8.5 million individuals crossing the southern border illegally.
In the same address, Trump also pledged to abolish the taxation of overtime, stating, "As part of our additional tax cuts, we will end taxes on overtime. The people who work overtime are among the hardest working citizens in our country and for too long, no one in Washington has been looking out for them."
He also promised to eliminate tax on tips, a policy later adopted by the Kamala Harris campaign. These proposed changes underscore Trump's commitment to traditional values, limited government, and free-market economics, hallmarks of a conservative perspective.
