In a recent development, Jim Jordan, the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, has called upon the Biden-Harris administration's Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to release documents pertinent to the committee's investigation into the alleged surveillance of former Representative Tulsi Gabbard.
This surveillance was reportedly conducted under the Quiet Skies program, a scheme designed to closely monitor individuals deemed as potential threats during air travel.
As reported by The Post Millennial, Jordan's letter to the head of the TSA stated, "On August 21, 2024, the Committee wrote to you requesting information and documents about the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) recent surveillance of former Representative Tulsi Gabbard. To date, you have failed to comply with the Committee's requests. We write to reiterate our August 21 requests and ask for your voluntary cooperation with our oversight."
The committee has expressed its frustration over the TSA's lack of cooperation, terming it as "stonewalling" their inquiries related to the requested documents. The letter further revealed, "According to whistleblowers from the Federal Air Marshals, the TSA began to surveil Representative Gabbard through its Quiet Skies Program on July 23, 2024, one day after she criticized the Biden-Harris Administration in a televised interview." The whistleblowers have reportedly noted "abnormalities" in the surveillance of Gabbard, suggesting that the justification for her inclusion in the program "didn't pass the smell test."
Jordan's letter further insisted on the immediate release of the requested documents, stating, "We ask that you produce the requested information and schedule the requested briefing immediately, but not later than 10:00 am on September 23, 2024. The Committee is prepared to resort to compulsory process to obtain compliance with our requests for documents and communications."
The decision to place Gabbard on the Quiet Skies list has been perceived by many as a retaliatory action following her criticism of the Biden-Harris administration. Gabbard, who recently endorsed Donald Trump, has been promised a place on his transition team should he be elected.
