Trump 'On Board' With Elon Musks Pitch For Government Efficiency

In a forthcoming announcement, former President Donald Trump is set to endorse a government efficiency commission, an idea initially proposed by billionaire Elon Musk.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, is expected to convey his support for Musk's plan during his speech at the New York Economic Club. He believes that the implementation of this plan could be a significant step towards achieving a balanced budget, should he be victorious in the upcoming November 5 election.

As reported by The New York Post, Trump's endorsement of the efficiency panel will involve "a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government," with the aim of making "recommendations for drastic reform." This information was initially revealed in excerpts from Trump's prepared speech, which were first reported by the Wall Street Journal.

The concept of the government efficiency commission was first introduced by Musk during an interview with Trump on August 12. Musk expressed his belief in the necessity of such a commission, stating, "I think we need a government efficiency commission to say like, Hey, where are we spending money thats sensible. Where is it not sensible? We need to live within our means." He further offered his assistance, saying, "I think it would be great to just have a government efficiency commission that takes a look at these things and just ensures that the taxpayer money, the taxpayers hard-earned money is spent in a good way. Id be happy to help out on such a commission.

Trump responded positively to Musk's proposal, expressing his desire for someone with Musk's "strength and courage and smarts" to be involved in the government. He also shared his own ideas for reducing the size of the government, stating, "I want to close up [the] Department of Education [and] move education back to the states."

The national debt, which increased by nearly $8 trillion to $27.75 trillion during Trump's term, has continued to rise under President Biden's administration, reaching a staggering $35.3 trillion. The implementation of a government efficiency commission could be a crucial step towards addressing this escalating issue.
