In a startling revelation, it has emerged that the US Secret Service experienced a significant security lapse in December.
A minor managed to unlawfully gain entry to President Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate, spending an hour on the premises, which included a swim in the pool. Despite the severity of the breach, no disciplinary action or terminations were reported, according to a recent report by The Post Millennial.
Susan Crabtree, National Political Correspondent for RealClearPolitics, reported on Monday, "One source said the intruder did a 'cannon-ball' into the pool, but another could only confirm that the young person jumped into the pool." She further elaborated on the challenges faced by the Secret Service in securing Mar-a-Lago, stating, "The entire compound is alarmed and secured, but because Mar-a-Lago is an active club, its security has proven particularly difficult for the Secret Service."
The Secret Service has maintained that the pool area is located on the exterior grounds of Mar-a-Lago, where authorized guests are permitted. However, sources have contradicted this claim, stating that the pool is in close proximity to the residential building on the property.
Crabtree also referenced a report by radio host Dan Bongino, who revealed that a "direct source" informed him that the Secret Service had rejected a request from the former president for "enhanced" protection at Mar-a-Lago. The reason given was that the Secret Service cannot protect "a nightclub." Bongino, a former Secret Service special agent, disputed this claim, arguing that the agency's duty is to protect the president, regardless of the complexities involved.
Crabtree highlighted the apparent double standards of the Secret Service, noting that when a drunken intruder entered the home of Biden's National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan last year, two Presidential Protective Division supervisors were removed from their posts.
She also drew attention to the agency's failures during the assassination attempt on former President Trump in July, which tragically resulted in the death of retired fireman Corey Comperatore and critically injured two others at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
In response to the assassination attempt, the Secret Service has since increased security at Trump's properties in Mar-a-Lago, Trump Tower, and Bedminster, New Jersey.
A spokesperson for the agency told Crabtree, "The juvenile was apprehended and taken into custody by Palm Beach Police Department officers. The U.S. Secret Service takes these matters extremely seriously, and at the time, an investigation was immediately launched, and certain U.S. Secret Service personnel were held accountable in accordance with agency protocols. We remain thankful to the Town of Palm Beach Police Department and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office for their response and strong partnership."
