A senior adviser to former President Trump has suggested that Vice President Kamala Harris is seeking an exit strategy from a much-anticipated debate with Trump, scheduled for September 10 on ABC.
Jason Miller, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, expressed his suspicion during an appearance on Fox News Channel's "Sunday Morning Futures."
According to WND, Miller stated, I think that the Harris campaign is looking for an escape hatch, is looking for a way to get out of this debate. He emphasized that the debate rules were established by the Democrats themselves and had been agreed upon for the CNN debate. Everyone had agreed to the rules at least informally with ABC. We have a deal with ABC, ABC has a deal, ABC is with us all the way on this," Miller added.
Miller further speculated that the Harris team, upon delving into debate preparation, has come to realize the magnitude of the challenge they face. He suggested that they are now apprehensive about Harris' ability to perform well in the debate against Trump, who he described as "the greatest debater in modern political history." He said, They realize that theyre in real trouble with Kamala Harris. They also know that President Trump is the greatest debater in modern political history, so I think theyre nervous and want a way out.
Sean Duffy, a Fox News host and former Republican congressman from Wisconsin, questioned Miller about the likelihood of Harris backing out of the debate. He asked, So is your point that Kamala Harris team has not confirmed the September 10th debate? Miller responded with a firm, Absolutely not.
Miller expressed his bewilderment at the Harris team's reluctance to participate in the debate. He said, And its mind-boggling because you would think that theyd want to debate. I mean, the American public does deserve this. But they refuse to accept the terms of the debate which, again, everyone had already agreed to it. Wed agreed to it, ABCs agreed to it. The rules are the rules, theyre not changing.
Miller further criticized the Harris campaign for their perceived fear of exposure. He questioned their delay in conducting a joint interview and Harris' lack of solo interviews. He said, This is really bizarre. I think theyre afraid and they dont want to put Kamala Harris out there. You want to know why? Because shes going to have to answer for every bit of this last three and a half years."
Miller concluded by holding Harris accountable for the current state of the economy, the border, and the world. He said, You cant talk about turning the page when youre the one who broke the economy, broke the border, broke the world. Thats on Kamala, and shes going to have to account for that on the debate stage.
