From Denial To Damage Control: Polis Scrambles After Aurora Gang Invasion

In a surprising turn of events, Colorado Governor Jared Polis has shifted his stance on a recent incident involving an alleged armed Venezuelan gang occupation of an apartment complex in Aurora, Colorado.

This comes merely two days after he brushed off the incident as a figment of "imagination."

Earlier this week, a video clip that sent shockwaves across the internet showed what seemed to be an armed Venezuelan gang seizing control of an Aurora apartment complex. The individuals in the video were observed brandishing rifles and conversing in Spanish. The video, captured via a doorbell camera, was purportedly recorded just prior to a shootout that resulted in one person being injured and several vehicles being riddled with bullet holes.

Despite the video evidence and police reports, Governor Polis initially downplayed the incident. As reported by The Post Millennial, a representative from his office responded to criticisms from Aurora Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky, who attributed the gang's actions to the governor's policies. The spokesperson dismissed the incident as being "largely a feature of Danielle Jurinskys imagination."

The representative further stated that "its illegal to take over buildings in Colorado," and if Jurinsky had "knowledge" of the incident, the governors office would be prepared to assist law enforcement.

However, Governor Polis now seems to acknowledge the occurrence of the event. During an interview on CNN, he addressed the criticisms regarding his initial dismissal of the violence. It is completely illegal in Colorado to take over an occupied building, Polis declared. Aurora police departments are on the frontlines if they need our help, Ive told the mayor, Ive told the police department the state is ready to assist.

Polis also urged those with additional evidence to step forward, stating, If the people alleging this have more evidence, please bring it forward. He underscored that the state takes such threats "very seriously," indicating a shift in his stance and a commitment to addressing the issue head-on. This change in tone suggests a recognition of the gravity of the situation and a willingness to uphold law and order, key tenets of conservative values.
