Chris Christie, the former New Jersey governor and twice-unsuccessful Republican presidential candidate, has secured a new role at the prestigious Yale University.
Christie is set to instruct a novel course, aptly named "How to Run a Political Campaign."
The course, which is open to both undergraduate and graduate students at Yale's Jackson School of Global Affairs, aims to guide students through the labyrinth of political campaigning. According to the course description, students will confront a myriad of issues, including "issue positions, fundraising and the most important question of all: If I do win, what do I want to accomplish and what kind of leader do I want to be?"
As reported by Gateway Pundit, Christie's move to teach a course on political campaigning has been met with a degree of irony, given his own less-than-stellar track record in this arena. The former governor's bids for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 and 2024 were both unsuccessful, with Christie garnering only 0.18% and 0.63% of the vote, respectively.
The New York Post further elaborates on Christie's new role, stating, "The weekly seminar taught by Christie, 61, entitled 'How to Run a Political Campaign,' is open to undergraduates as well as graduate students at Yales Jackson School of Global Affairs, and will focus on navigating the challenges of running for office in the new 'confusing,' political landscape."
Christie's political career spans several years, with his tenure as the governor of the Garden State from 2010 to 2018 and as the U.S. attorney for New Jersey from 2002 to 2008. However, following his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race, Christie has notably refrained from endorsing the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump.
While Christie's new role at Yale may raise eyebrows given his own political history, it also highlights the importance of understanding the intricacies of political campaigning. His course aims to equip future leaders with the necessary skills to navigate the complex and often unpredictable world of politics, a world in which Christie himself has had firsthand experience.
