In a strategic move to expand his support base, GOP nominee Donald Trump has enlisted the services of Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., both former Democrats, for his presidential transition team.
This decision is seen as an attempt to bridge the partisan divide and rally support "across party lines."
As reported by The Post Millennial, Trump campaign advisor Brian Hughes expressed his pride in the new additions to the team. "As President Trumps broad coalition of supporters and endorsers expands across partisan lines, we are proud that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard have been added to the Trump/Vance Transition team," Hughes stated. He further emphasized the value of their contributions, saying, "We look forward to having their powerful voices on the team as we work to restore Americas greatness."
Gabbard and Kennedy have recently thrown their weight behind Trump in his bid against Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency. Their departure from the Democratic party signals a shift in their political alignment.
Kennedy, in a press conference last week, outlined his reasons for supporting Trump. "Three great causes ... persuaded me to leave the Democratic Party, to throw my support to President Trump." He cited free speech, the war in Ukraine, and the health of Americans as his primary concerns. Kennedy later publicly endorsed Trump during a rally in Arizona.
Gabbard, on the other hand, extended her endorsement to Trump on Monday. She appealed to all Americans, regardless of their political affiliations, saying, "Whether you're a Democrat, Republican, or an Independent, if you love our country as I do, if you cherish peace and freedom as we do, I invite you to join me in doing all that we can to save our country and elect President Donald J Trump and send him back to the White House to do the tough work of saving our country and serving the people."
The enlistment of Gabbard and Kennedy into Trump's transition team underscores the nominee's commitment to a broad-based coalition, a move that could potentially sway the election in his favor.
