The family of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the man at the center of last month's deadly rally shooting that nearly claimed the life of former President Donald Trump, has engaged the services of a leading law firm.
This development comes as the FBI continues its investigation into the incident that has left the nation in shock and bewilderment.
The Crooks family is now being represented by Quinn Logue, a top-tier Pittsburgh law firm, as reported by The New York Post. The firm, led by seasoned attorneys John Quinn and Matthew Logue, is known for its expertise in personal injury, legal malpractice, and employment litigation cases. Although the firm also handles criminal defense, the partners appear to concentrate more on civil litigation, as indicated by their professional profiles. Quinn Logue's team of lawyers has earned commendations from organizations such as Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, and the National Trial Lawyers Association.
In the aftermath of the shooting, life in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, where the Crooks family resides, has seemingly returned to normalcy. "It's been weeks since police were here. There's nothing happening, no police activity," Kelly Little, a 39-year-old neighbor, told The Post. She added that while local police occasionally patrol the area, there are no officers stationed there permanently. The Crooks family has maintained a low profile since the incident, which aligns with their usual behavior, according to neighbors.
The FBI's lack of progress in uncovering Crooks' motive has sparked criticism from lawmakers. They accuse the FBI and Secret Service of delaying the investigation into the first attempted assassination of a sitting or former US president in over four decades. "It's been more than a month since former President Trump's near-assassination, yet the FBI has still not offered Congress or the public any real insights into Crooks' motivation," Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) told The Post. He urged the FBI to expedite their investigation and provide a substantial update.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), a member of a bipartisan Senate investigation into the attempt on Trump's life, also expressed his dissatisfaction with the pace of the investigation. "All I can really tell you is the Secret Service, FBI are basically dragging their feet. They're stonewalling us," Johnson said on Fox News Sunday Morning Futures.
