In a shocking revelation, Thomas Matthew Crooks, the man who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump, was found to have multiple encrypted messaging accounts on platforms based in foreign countries, including Germany, New Zealand, and Belgium.
This information was disclosed by Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL), a former Green Beret and member of the 13-person task force assigned to investigate the shooting incident at the Butler rally.
As reported by The Post Millennial, Waltz shared with the media that these overseas accounts were discovered during the investigation of the messages found on Crooks' mobile device. "We still havent learned a lot. We havent learned that much about those overseas accounts," Waltz admitted. He further elaborated, "We do know that they were in, if I get this correctly, Belgium, New Zealand and Germany."
Waltz raised a pertinent question regarding the necessity of such encrypted platforms for a 19-year-old healthcare aide like Crooks. "Why does a 19-year-old kid who is a health care aide need encrypted platforms not even based in the United States, but based abroad, where most terrorist organizations know it is harder for our law enforcement to get into? Thats a question Ive had since day one."
The Republican representative also criticized the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the United States Secret Service (USSS) for their lack of transparency regarding their investigations into the shooting. Waltz argued that these agencies should be more forthcoming with information, stating, "They need to be releasing information as they come across it, because this wasnt an isolated incident."
Waltz further underscored the ongoing threats against Trump, particularly from Iran. He referenced a thwarted assassination plot against Trump by a Pakistani national who had hired hitmen to eliminate the GOP nominee and other U.S. officials.
The incident at the Butler rally in Pennsylvania saw Crooks bypass USSS security, ascend a rooftop within 150 yards of Trump, and fire multiple shots. One bystander was killed, and two others were critically injured. Trump himself was grazed in the ear, narrowly escaping a potentially fatal shot by moving his head at the last moment. This incident raises serious questions about national security and the effectiveness of our law enforcement agencies in preventing such attacks.
