The Biden-Harris administration's immigration program, known as CHNV, has been temporarily halted due to concerns over potential fraud.
The program, which facilitates the immigration of individuals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to the United States, has been paused following a report from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that identified potential fraud indicators.
As reported by Gateway Pundit, the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) highlighted the USCIS report on its website, which revealed alarming instances of fraudulent activity. The report indicated the use of counterfeit Social Security Numbers (SSNs), including those of deceased individuals, and the use of false phone numbers. "24 of the 1,000 most used sponsor SSNs belong to a deceased individual," FAIR stated, highlighting the extent of the fraudulent activity.
The USCIS report also revealed that certain addresses were repeatedly used by multiple applicants. It was found that 100 addresses were listed on more than 19,000 immigration applications. The report also noted that many applicants applied from unconventional locations such as mobile park homes, warehouses, and storage units.
The USCIS report further revealed that multiple applications were submitted from the same IP address. It was noted that 51,133 applications came from 100 IP addresses. The report also highlighted that identical answers appeared on multiple applications, with the same response to one question appearing on more than 10,000 applications.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed to Fox News that the program was paused "out of an abundance of caution." The program allows up to 30,000 nationals from the aforementioned countries to legally enter the U.S. via parole if they meet certain conditions. The DHS clarified that the potential fraud was associated with sponsors, not the individuals seeking entry.
"DHS has review mechanisms in place to detect and prevent fraud and abuse in our immigration processes. DHS takes any abuse of its processes very seriously," a DHS representative stated. The representative further added that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would investigate and litigate applicable cases in immigration court and make criminal referrals to the Department of Justice.
Republican Rep. Mark Green of Tennessee, Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, criticized the Biden-Harris administration on his website for the lack of vetting in the CHNV program. "This admission by the Biden-Harris administration vindicates every warning we have ever issued about the unlawful CHNV mass-parole program," he stated.
Rep. Green further criticized the administration officials, including the now-impeached DHS Secretary Mayorkas, for their claims about the vetting process. "It also exposes the lie by administration officials, like now-impeached DHS Secretary Mayorkas, about the quality and extent of the vetting process not just for the inadmissible aliens seeking entry, but those attempting to sponsor them," he said.
Rep. Green concluded by calling for the termination of the CHNV program, stating, "This is exactly what happens when you create an unlawful mass-parole program in order to spare your administration the political embarrassment and bad optics of overrun borders. The Biden-Harris administration should terminate the CHNV program immediately."
