Renowned podcast host Joe Rogan delivered a scathing critique of fact-checkers on his show, the "Joe Rogan Experience," on Thursday.
He accused them of dishonesty and intentional misrepresentation of facts in their coverage of Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz. Rogan's guest, YouTuber Bob Gymlan, initiated a discussion about feeling manipulated by Harris, noting that even within her own party, she was often perceived as a joke until she was suddenly elevated as the presumptive presidential nominee.
Rogan echoed Gymlan's sentiments, criticizing the orchestrated promotion of positive information about Harris. He also expressed his concerns about Walz, whom he described as "radical." Rogan's primary contention was with fact-checkers, whom he accused of "lying and intentionally misrepresenting facts."
According to the Daily Caller, Rogan stated, "She wasnt elected, right? She was appointed Vice President, and then they didnt do primaries. They had no primaries for Joe Biden, and now all of a sudden, she is the nominee because hes stepping away. So then they bring in her, and they bring in this other guy whos radical from Minnesota thats the vice president who he believes a lot of wild things."
Rogan went on to list some of the "wild things" he believes Walz supports, including transgender surgery for individuals under 13 and late-term abortions. He also pointed out that Walz had altered the Minnesota state flag to resemble the Somali flag, a move that Rogan found unsettling.
In the midst of their discussion, Rogan showed Gymlan a video of Walz changing the Minnesota state flag. However, as his producer, Jamie Vernon, searched for the video, he noticed that fact-checkers were disputing the similarity between the new flag design and the Somali flag. Rogan swiftly countered, branding some fact-checkers as "completely full of shit."
Rogan continued, "Yeah, thats the problem with, like, fact checkers. Some of these fact checkers are completely full of shit, like youre just trying to debunk something, especially now, when theres all this scrutiny being paid attention to what this guys done."
Vernon then presented articles defending Walz, prompting Rogan to compare the new Minnesota state flag with the Somali flag, highlighting their similarities. Walz had announced the flag change in May, with state lawmakers asserting that the new design was intended to avoid painful memories for the Native Americans depicted on the original flag.
Rogan didn't mince words when expressing his views on fact-checkers, stating, "Yeah, fact checkers are fucking dangerous. And its really, I mean, what youre seeing is kind of treason. Its kind of what it is if youre seeing that kind of fact checking. Youre lying and youre intentionally misrepresenting facts, and youre doing so because you want a specific result politically, and it should be illegal."
Rogan concluded by questioning the role and integrity of fact-checkers, arguing that they often manipulate facts to suit their narrative. He stated, "The problem with facts is a lot of them are very subjective, and you can find one small inconsistency or one you could phrase a question in a certain way and have your answer false in a different way, because youre just finding some nitpicky way to look at things. Ive seen a lot of that, to the point where, like, thats not fact checked at all. You guys just fucking youre gaslighting. Its pure gaslighting."
