In a recent development, Vice President Kamala Harris has declined to participate in a debate on Fox News, as confirmed by her campaign.
This refusal comes after President Donald Trump had previously agreed to three debates with Harris, scheduled for September 4 on Fox, September 10 on ABC, and September 25 on NBC.
According to The Post Millennial, when Harris was questioned about her participation in all three debates, she only confirmed her attendance for the September 10 event on ABC. "I am looking forward to it," she responded, referring to the single debate she has committed to. "I have always been on record. I am looking forward to debating Donald Trump and we have a date of September 10. I hear he has finally committed to it, and I'm looking forward to it."
Her response, however, left unanswered the question about the other two debates. This lack of commitment has drawn criticism, with many arguing that Harris is avoiding the press. Despite this, some suggest that her "message" is still being disseminated. It has been reported that she has given off-the-record briefings to reporters traveling with her.
President Trump, in a press conference earlier on Thursday, confirmed his agreement to all three debates, each hosted by a different television network. "So we have those three dates and those networks, they're very anxiously awaiting that date and those dates," Trump stated at Mar-a-Lago. "We have spoken to the heads of the network and it's all been confirmed."
The September 10 debate was initially agreed upon with Joe Biden, who has since been replaced by Harris as the Democratic nominee. Despite this change, Harris has insisted that Trump honor the original debate schedule.
However, Harris has not yet agreed to the other two debates. The Trump camp has expressed a desire for more opportunities to contrast their policies with those of the Vice President. In addition to her non-committal stance on the debates, Harris has not held a press conference or given any interviews to the press. Despite this, she has delivered her campaign speech on multiple occasions.
This situation raises questions about the Vice President's willingness to engage in open debate and her commitment to transparency. As the election approaches, the American public will undoubtedly be watching closely to see if Harris decides to participate in the remaining debates.
