California Chaos: Young Dad's Life Hangs In Balance After SHOCKING Incident

Written by Published

In a tragic incident that underscores the escalating crime rates in East Oakland, a California father has been left battling for his life after being hit by a stray bullet while asleep in his home.

The bullet, which pierced through his headboard, struck him in the head and exited through his left eye.

Run Hua Kuang, a 33-year-old Chinese immigrant and father of two, has been in the ICU since August 1, following a seven-hour surgery necessitated by the shooting, according to The Post Millennial. The incident occurred in his East Oakland housing project home, where he was taking a nap after a long day at work.

The Oakland Police, as of now, have not released any information regarding the circumstances of the shooting or any potential suspects or arrests. The incident has left the family in a state of shock and distress, with Kuang's sister, Jasmine, stating, "This shocking incident has left the entire family traumatized and in deep distress. This tragedy has created a severe financial burden for our family."

She further emphasized the impact of her brother's absence, noting, "Hua's absence is even more of a hardship and struggle since he is the only one who can speak limited English and take care of the responsibilities and communications for the household."

Kuang, who moved to the U.S. from Taishan, China in 2005, is the sole breadwinner for his family, which includes his wife, their three-year-old and seven-month-old daughters, and his parents. In the aftermath of the tragedy, his sister Jasmine has set up a GoFundMe to help alleviate the financial burden on the family.

The incident comes against the backdrop of a sharp increase in violent crime in Oakland, with instances of robberies and car thefts having doubled and tripled since before the pandemic. The surge in crime has led to an exodus of businesses and residents from the Bay Area town.

The Oakland Police Department, grappling with a severe staffing crisis, has only 35 officers on patrol at any given time, leading to a rise in crime due to a lack of enforcement and accountability. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for effective law enforcement and crime prevention strategies in the area.
