Former President Donald Trump experienced a brief delay before his keynote address at the 2024 Bitcoin conference in Nashville on Saturday, due to a security breach.
The incident occurred when two individuals managed to infiltrate the event at the Music City Center without passing through metal detectors, according to law enforcement sources.
As reported by The Post Millennial, the individuals were intercepted at an initial checkpoint after entering the venue around 3:30pm. The Secret Service, in a statement to the media, clarified that the individuals were "credentialed and screened," but were expelled from the event for failing to adhere to the proper entry protocol. "It was determined that there was no protective interest with these individuals and there was never a threat to the former President," a spokesperson assured.
The sources revealed that Trump's security detail advised him to hold off on his scheduled appearance until the individuals were located. Following their discovery, they were interrogated and subsequently removed from the premises. No criminal charges were filed against the two individuals.
This security lapse comes on the heels of a recent assassination attempt on Trump, executed by 20-year-old gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks. Crooks fired from a nearby rooftop, hitting Trump in the ear and wounding two others. The incident tragically claimed the life of former fire chief Corey Comperatore, who was killed while protecting his family from the gunfire.
In response to the assassination attempt, Congress has been rigorously questioning agency heads to uncover how Crooks was able to find an opportunity to carry out his attack. Following her appearance before Congress, U.S. Secret Service head Kimberly Cheatle tendered her resignation, further highlighting the gravity of the situation.
