Nina Jankowicz, the left-leaning former executive director of the Department of Homeland Securitys now-defunct Disinformation Governance Board, has suffered a significant setback in her legal battle against FOX News.
Jankowicz, who was once proposed by the Biden Administration for a 'disinformation' czar role, had filed a defamation lawsuit against the conservative news outlet, targeting several of its hosts who had criticized her on air.
According to Gateway Pundit, a federal judge in Delaware, Judge Colm F. Connolly, dismissed Jankowicz's lawsuit. The suit had claimed that FOX News hosts, including Maria Bartiromo, Sean Hannity, and former host Tucker Carlson, had "targeted her during their shows" and that she "was repeatedly demeaned and defamed in highly personal language," as reported by The New York Times last year.
Jankowicz, a specialist in Russian disinformation, had alleged that the hosts' commentary, which accused her of enforcing government-backed censorship of free speech - a claim she denied - had threatened her personal safety and career, leading to her resignation from the panel.
The dismissal of the lawsuit is seen as a significant victory for FOX News and a blow to Jankowicz. It underscores the importance of free speech, a cornerstone of conservative values, and the right of news outlets to critique public figures.
Despite the setback, Jankowicz continues to promote her narrative about disinformation on social media. This case serves as a reminder of the ongoing tension between the conservative media's commitment to free speech and the progressive push for stricter regulation of information, a tension that is likely to persist in the current political climate.
