A recent snap poll has revealed a disturbing trend among Democratic voters, with a significant portion expressing a wish that an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump had been successful.
The poll, conducted by Unherd, found that one-third of Democrat respondents agreed with the statement, I wish Trumps assassin hadnt missed.
According to The Post Millennial, the poll delved deeper into the sentiments of those who expressed this wish. The data showed that support for such a statement was not significantly influenced by factors such as age or race. However, a strong correlation was found with radical left-wing ideology.
Those who agreed with the statement were subjected to further questioning. A striking 55 percent of those who wished the assassination had been successful also agreed with the statement white Republicans are racist, with only 20 percent disagreeing. This belief emerged as the most significant indicator of whether a respondent wished harm upon Trump.
These findings come at a time of heightened concern over the potential for political rhetoric to incite violence. A separate poll by YouGov released last week found that 67 percent of US adults believe the current political climate is likely to encourage politically motivated violence.
Despite these concerns, prominent figures on the left continue to portray Trump in a negative light, often likening him to a Hitlerian figure and labeling him a "threat to democracy." Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for instance, recently described Trump as a "racist" and a "neo-Nazi" during an Instagram live session.
In response to these accusations, Trump, during a rally in Michigan, criticized the left for their repeated claims that he is a threat to democracy. He refuted these allegations, asserting that he took a bullet for democracy following the unsuccessful assassination attempt.
