A group of fraternity brothers from the University of North Carolina (UNC) have been hailed as heroes after they defended an American flag from being desecrated by a pro-Hamas mob, as reported by the Gateway Pundit.
Despite facing a violent onslaught from the radicals, the fraternity brothers stood their ground, demonstrating their respect for the flag and the values it represents.
According to the Gateway Pundit, the fraternity brothers were warmly received at the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Wednesday. One of the young men addressed the crowd, saying, "When a mob tried to take down the American flag on our campus, we knew we couldnt let that happen. We stood guard, we held it up, and we did not let it fall. It was all about respect, not just for the cloth, but for everything that the flag stands for. Too many people have sacrificed everything for it. The least we can do was keep it flying. And tonight, we are proud to honor our flag again."
As reported by KVIA News, during a walkout at UNC in April, pro-Hamas protesters tore down barricades and replaced the American flag on the quad with a Palestinian flag. The American flag had been flying at half-mast in honor of police officers tragically killed in Charlotte earlier that week. UNC Chancellor Roberts, accompanied by police, personally replaced the American flag while protestors hurled bottles, rocks, and water at them and shouted obscenities.
When the protestors attempted to remove the flag again, the Greek community stepped up to protect it, singing the National Anthem. Despite the barrage of objects thrown at them and the violent rhetoric shouted by the activists, they ensured the flag never touched the ground. One student reported that they stood protecting the flag for over an hour, a testament to their unwavering commitment to uphold the values symbolized by the American flag.
