Kamala Harris For President? Here's Newt Gingrich's Opinion On That...

Newt Gingrich, in his recent opinion editorial published by Fox News, expressed his astonishment at the Democrats' suggestion of Vice President Kamala Harris replacing President Joe Biden, given his perceived mental decline.

Gingrich, a Republican, humorously quoted Clint Eastwood's famous line from "Dirty Harry": "Go ahead, make my day," implying that such a move would be advantageous for Republicans.

Gingrich argued that while Democrats may lose with Biden, they would face a total collapse with Harris as their nominee. He acknowledged the legitimate concerns about Biden's age and competence, but pointed out that the deeper challenges for his re-election lie in the stark contrast between Trump's successes and Biden's failures in areas such as the economy, national security, and foreign policy.

Gingrich suggested that a success-oriented Democratic Party might consider replacing Biden and Harris with fresh faces like Govs. Gretchen Whitmer, Andy Beshear, Gavin Newsom, and Josh Shapiro. However, he noted that bypassing Harris, a Black female and active pro-abortion advocate, could cause a schism among Democrats.

The Republican commentator predicted a disaster for the Democratic Party if Harris were to be the nominee, drawing parallels with the collapse of the George McGovern campaign in 1972. He argued that Harris's nomination would shift the focus onto real policy failures and their costs to everyday Americans, as she wouldn't have Biden's age as a shield.

Gingrich criticized Harris's performance as the so-called Border Czar, citing her single visit to the border during her vice presidency and the influx of over 6 million illegal immigrants during her tenure. He also highlighted the dilemma Harris faces regarding Biden's cognitive decline, stating that either acknowledging or denying it could damage her credibility.

Gingrich further claimed that Harris's nomination would alienate blue-collar union workers in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, who he believes identify more with Biden's Scranton roots than with Harris's San Francisco background. He also pointed out Harris's radical stance, citing her support for Senator Bernie Sanders's $32 trillion socialized medicine bill and the Green New Deal, which he claimed could cost the average family $165,000 and result in the loss of up to 2 million jobs.

Gingrich concluded by suggesting that Democrats might find it less risky to stick with Biden than to face a potential collapse with Harris as their nominee. He warned that every Democratic candidate would face tough questions about their stance on Harris's policies, leading to enormous pressure and possible desertion from the party.
