In a revelation that has sparked renewed speculation about President Biden's health, it has been discovered that a leading neurologist from Washington D.C. had a meeting with the President's personal doctor at the White House earlier this year.
The neurologist, Dr. Kevin Cannard, is a recognized authority on Parkinson's disease and has been serving at the Walter Reed Medical Center for nearly two decades.
According to records reviewed by The New York Post, Dr. Cannard met with Dr. Kevin O'Connor, the President's personal physician, and two others at the White House residence clinic on January 17. The meeting took place amidst ongoing questions about the 81-year-old President's mental health, following his debate performance with former President Trump. The records also show that Dr. John E. Atwood, a cardiologist at Walter Reed, was present at the 5 P.M. meeting. The identity of the fourth person remains undisclosed in the logs from that day.
Dr. Cannard's expertise in Parkinson's disease is well-established. He has been serving as the "neurology specialist supporting the White House Medical Unit" since 2012, as per his LinkedIn profile. His most recent publication, which appeared in the journal Parkinsonism & Related Disorders in August 2023, delves into the "early-stage" of the debilitating disease.
Given that Dr. O'Connor's primary responsibility is President Biden's health, it is plausible that the meeting revolved around the commander in chief, as suggested by Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Tx), who served as the doctor for both Presidents Obama and Trump. "It's highly likely they were talking about Biden," Jackson told The Post. "He should only be [regularly] treating the president and the first family."
Dr. O'Connor has been President Biden's official physician since he assumed office in January 2021 and is in daily contact with the President. His most significant duty each day is to greet the President with a "Good morning, Mr. President," to start his day on the right note. In February, Dr. O'Connor gave President Biden a clean bill of health at his annual physical, which included a neurological exam that specifically ruled out Parkinson's disease.
However, Jackson, who has never treated Biden, has accused the President's doctor and the First Family of attempting to "cover-up" the President's declining cognitive health. He alleges that Dr. O'Connor is part of this supposed cover-up due to his close relationship with the Biden family. "Kevin O'Connor is like a son to Jill Biden she loves him. Its crazy. Kevin O'Connor was in that job on day one of the Biden administration because they knew they could trust Kevin to say and do anything that needed to be said or done and cover up whatever needed to be covered up. He is part of the Biden family," Jackson said.
Jackson has long expressed concerns about Biden's mental health, and following the June 27 debate, he suggested that the President was suffering from a "cognitive disease" and called for his resignation.
Dr. Rob Howard, a professor of old age psychiatry at University College London, noted that President Biden exhibited several symptoms indicative of Parkinson's disease, including "fluctuation in attentional function, his facial appearance, and his gait." However, he clarified that he was not offering a formal diagnosis.
Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS), a physician himself, echoed these concerns, stating that "many" in the medical community have "suspected for several years that the president might be suffering from Parkinson's disease." He emphasized the importance of transparency, stating, "If the president of the United States is among them, the American people deserve to know before voting in November."
When approached for comments, both Dr. Cannard and Dr. Atwood declined. A White House spokesman, while refusing to answer questions about the meeting, stated, "A wide variety of specialists from the Walter Reed system visit the White House complex to treat thousands of military personnel who work on the grounds."
